When an infusion at home makes sense
An infusion at home makes sense when a doctor has prescribed intravenous therapy and getting to a clinic is hard: after surgery, with weakness or dehydration, for older and bed-bound patients, or when the therapy runs for several days in a row.
What is given, how much and for how many days is the doctor's decision. We administer the therapy exactly as prescribed.
How the visit works
On the call we agree on a time and check which therapy your doctor prescribed.
At your home we wash our hands, prepare the equipment and place a cannula in a vein.
We start the infusion at the rate the therapy requires and watch how the patient feels.
If the therapy runs for several days, we agree whether the cannula stays in until the next visit.

How to prepare
Have the doctor's order or report with the prescribed therapy ready.
You collect the prescribed medication from a pharmacy. We tell you on the call which supplies we bring.
Prepare a place where the patient can lie or sit comfortably while the infusion runs.
Tell us if the patient has allergies or takes blood thinners.

If swelling, redness or pain appears at the puncture site, let us know.

Can I receive an infusion at home?
Yes. A nurse comes to your address and gives the infusion your doctor prescribed. The therapy is the same as in a clinic; the patient simply does not have to go anywhere.
Do I need a doctor's order for an infusion?
Yes. A doctor prescribes the therapy and we administer it. If you do not have an order, contact your GP.
How long does an infusion take?
It depends on the volume and the rate your doctor set. We tell you the exact time once we see the prescription.
